From City Life to Heartfelt Support: Why I Support Expat Families in Barcelona

Barcelona Expat

When I look back on the path that led me here—to walking alongside new families, holding space for mothers, and supporting little ones—I see a journey rooted in love, courage, and the search for meaningful connection.

It’s easy to think that life unfolds in a straight line, but in reality, it weaves and curves, asking us to grow in unexpected ways.

For many years, I lived in London, working in a fast-paced corporate environment in the heart of the City. On the surface, I was thriving—career success, independence, a buzzing lifestyle—but somewhere deep within me, there was a quiet yearning for something more meaningful. I longed to feel grounded in my purpose. To offer something that truly mattered.

Motherhood was the turning point.

When I became a mother, my world shifted. It cracked me open in the most beautiful, tender, and at times overwhelming ways. Suddenly, the busy life I had once embraced no longer aligned with the woman I was becoming. I was navigating unfamiliar terrain—not just as a new parent, but as an expat far from the support of my own family, cultural traditions, and language.

The truth is, becoming a parent in a country that is not your own can be both magical and deeply disorienting. There’s the excitement of raising your child in a new place, the richness of another culture—but also the ache of distance, the unfamiliar systems, and the quiet moments when you wish someone could just understand you without having to explain everything first.

That experience never left me. In fact, it shaped me. It lit a spark that, years later, would become MyMamaDreams.

Motherhood Barcelona

When we made the decision to leave behind our London life and move to Barcelona, it was more than just a geographical shift—it was a soulful leap. I knew I wanted to create something that would offer the kind of support I had longed for as a new mother: holistic, warm, and culturally sensitive care for families walking the path of parenthood away from home.

So I trained. I became a doula. I studied lactation and infant sleep, and I drew on the mindfulness practices I had been nurturing for over a decade. Each piece came together with a clear intention: to walk alongside expat families in Spain with compassion, wisdom, and non-judgemental guidance.

Postpartum Barcelona

Today, MyMamaDreams is the heart of that vision.

I work with international families—people like you, who have chosen Barcelona as their home, and who are navigating the incredible journey of pregnancy, birth, and early parenting in a second (or even third) language. Whether you've just arrived, or have been here for years but still feel unsure about how to access the right kind of support, please know: you are not alone.

I see you.

I see your strength in adapting to a new culture while growing your family.

I see your questions, your doubts, your longing for support that makes sense to you.

I see the weight of trying to make the "right" decisions without the familiar anchors of your home country’s system, your mother tongue, or your trusted people nearby.

And I want you to know—this is exactly why I do what I do.

Through birth preparation, breastfeeding support, and gentle sleep coaching, I offer continuity of care that honours your instincts and respects your pace. My approach is holistic, nurturing, and grounded in evidence, but most importantly, it is built on human connection.

You don’t have to do this alone—or piecemeal, turning to one professional for birth, another for feeding, and yet another when sleep feels impossible. I offer a cohesive path forward, where you feel held and understood from pregnancy through the first tender years of your child’s life.

Barcelona may not be the place you were born, but it can be the place where you feel rooted as a parent. Where you find your community. Where you feel seen, heard, and empowered.
